What is BMR?

BMR is the common abbreviation for Basal Metabolic Rate, a metric used to measure the amount of calories a body needs to consume in a day in order to function. With a person's age, gender, height, and weight, the BMR calculation can determine how many calories are required to keep that person functioning for a day. While this can provide great insight into how and what you should eat, BMR only takes into consideration the energy needed to run basic bodily functions. This makes calculating TDEE important to put BMR into perspective as TDEE accounts for daily activity as well.
