BMR is the common abbreviation for Basal Metabolic Rate, a metric for measuring the base amount of calories a specific body needs to function for a day. For more information on BMR, read our what is BMR section.
TDEE is the common abbreviation for Total Daily Energy Expenditure, a metric for measuring the amount of calories a specific body needs to function for a day. This metric is very similar to BMR and typically is calculated using an extension of the BMR calculation, but, unlike BMR, TDEE takes into account daily activity to give a more accurate figure of required calories. For more information on TDEE, read our what is TDEE section.
